Head of Department of Atmosphere-Ocean Interactions, Doctor of Geography, Professor.

Prof. Genrikn Alekseev is the author of more than 150 scientific publications, including 11 monographs on atmosphere-ocean interactions and the climate of high latitudes. He was awarded the “Badge of Honor” (1995) and is the winner of Roshydromet’s Shokalsky prize (1986) for his works on atmosphere-ocean interactions. In 2004 he won the Russian Academy of Sciences Schmidt prize for his works on the changes of the Arctic climate system (2000-2003). He has the title “Honorary worker of the Hydrometeorological Service of Russia” (2009) and “Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation” (2011).
Prof. Genrikn Alekseev was a member of the scientific-coordinating group of the international programme “Arctic Climate System Study” in 1993-2000 and is one of the authors of the “Assessment Report of Climate Impacts in the Arctic” in 2002-2004.
Since 2007 Prof. Genrikn Alekseev is a member of the Expert group on climate of the international programme “The Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme ”. He participated in the preparation and realization of the programme of the International Polar Year. He is the Chief Editor of the volume “Meteorological and Geophysical Investigations” on the International Polar Year results (2011) and Member of the Editorial Board of the journal “Problems of the Arctic and the Antarctic”.

Research area: Climate Change in Arctic and its impacts on environment and maritime activities.

Director, Professor, Doctor of Sciences (Physics & Mathematics)

Associate Editor and Executive Editor of "Problems  of Ecological Monitoring and Ecosystems Modelling" (vol. I-XХIV). Member of Moscow Mathematical Society. Member of Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Science on the of Earth's Climate Theory. Member of Russian National Committee on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. In 2000, Professor Sergey Semenov was awarded the Fedorov Prize for the monograph "Tropospheric ozone and plant growth in Europe".

Lead Author (since 1998) and Coordinating Lead Author (since 2001) of  Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), awarded the Peace Nobel Prize in 2007. Since 2008 – Member of the IPCC Bureau, Vice-Chairman of Working Group II of IPCC. In 2008 Professor Sergey Semenov was awarded the title "Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation" by the President of Russia.

Research objectivies: gas composition of atmosphere and forecast of its components in the boundary layer, monitoring of total and tropospheric ozone.

Doctor of biological sciences, Head of Department of monitoring of streams of greenhouse gases in natural and antropogenicly disturbed ecosystems.

Corresponding member of Russian Ecological Academy (since 2012). Leading expert on cheking Inventory Reports of countries-members of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and Kyoto Protocol. Member of delegation of Russian Federation on international negotiations dealing with climatic agreements since 2009. Takes part in the projects of International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) on calculation of nitrogen's compounds of surface ecosystems of Russia. Takes part int the work of Intergovernmental Panel on ClimateChange (IPCC). Leading author of Working Group III of IPCC on preparation the Assessment Report 5 (2011-2014 years).

Scientific interests: biogeochemical cycles of nitrogen and carbon, methodologies for estimations of greenhouse gas emissions and sinks in agriculture and land use, soil carbon stocks in abandoned land, modeling of changes in soil carbon stocks and verification of modeled results against experimental data
