Dr.Alexander Lukyanov – head of numerical modeling laboratory of Upper Atmosphere Department of Central Aerological Observatory (CAO) gave an interview related to Greenhouse Gases Observing Satellite (GOSAT). Spectrometer installed on GOSAT globally observes the atmospheric column of carbon dioxide and methane. The primary purpose of the GOSAT Project is to estimate emissions and absorptions of these greenhouse gases on a subcontinental scale (several thousand kilometers square). Through analyzing the GOSAT data, scientists will accumulate new knowledge on the global distribution and temporal variation of the greenhouse gases, as well as the global carbon cycle and its influence on climate. Scientists from CAO conduct the forward and inverse modeling of carbon dioxide in frame of GOSAT Project.
